We offer the certified Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) and tests for those students interested in obtaining this certification in order to obtain a firearms possession and acquisition licence (PAL).
The student will learn about basic firearms safety, locking devices, ammunition safety, practical and safe handling of a variety of firearms actions, range and outdoor safety, safe storage/transportation/display, laws and regulations for firearms and ammunition, and social responsibilities. Students will do practical, hands-on handling of several modern, commonly-available firearms.
Available firearms include: break action, bolt action, pump action, lever action and semi-auto action rifles and/or shotguns (on the CFSC course) and semi-auto pistols, double-action revolvers, and single-action revolvers (on the CRFSC course).
There are no prerequisites to take the CFSC course. In order to take the CRFSC you must have completed the CFSC within the previous 12 months, or take it at the same time as the CFSC. The minimum age is 12 years old, except for the CRFSC, where the minimum age is 18 years old.
