No. We are required to send all of your documentation (course report forms, exams) to the Firearms Safety Education Service of Ontario within 5 days following a course. They will verify the paperwork is complete and send you the copies of the course report that you need to apply for the PAL. This process may take 3-4 weeks.
Only paid customers are admitted to the course and exams, with the exception of the following: 1. FSESO designated auditors. 2. Parents/guardians who are chaperoning their children who are taking the course. In other cases, attending the course without paying can be considered on a case-by-case basis, but will not result in you receiving a course report form or completing a test.
Yes. You can bring your own lunch, and you will be afforded time to eat it, however we cannot always provide refrigeration to store your food, or facilities to reheat your meal. You should plan and pack accordingly. Please be aware that you may be exposed to or around allergens from food brought by other customers.
We do not have an arrangement for discounts on hotel bookings with any hotels. You should discuss availability and pricing directly with the hotel.
No. Anyone can take the course and exams. You do not have to be a Canadian citizen or permanently residing in Canada. Foreign nationals here as a visitor, to study or work can take this course as it is considered a “general interest” or “self-improvement” course.
No. Once you take the CFSC or CRFSC courses and pass the exams, you will never have to take them again. They will not expire. The exception is if you later become prohibited by a court from having firearms. In that case, you will have to re-take the CFSC in order to obtain a non-restricted PAL after the expiration of your firearms prohibition order.
On our public courses, you can book up to 5 persons at a time. If you want to book a larger group, or you are interested in arranging a private or corporate group course that is not open to the public, please contact us at info@gtagunsafety.com.
We provide only the firearm safety training (CFSC and/or CRFSC) that is required to apply for a Canadian firearm licence (PAL). We do not provide the PAL licence. You must inquire with the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program to apply for your PAL.
CFSC courses are open to anyone aged 12 and up. CRFSC courses are open to anyone aged 18 and over.
If you have been prohibited from possessing firearms by a court, or as part of terms for pre-trial release, you may not attend the course. You must wait until the prohibition expires, or the court matter is otherwise resolved, before you can take the course.
Although our facility is accessible for mobility issues, accommodation for other specific abilities will need to be discussed in advance of the course. If we are not able to offer an appropriate accommodation, we will direct you to the Firearms Safety Education Service of Ontario, who can work with you to find an instructor who can, or who will provide further assistance to us in accommodating your needs.
Yes. All of our instructors are certified by the Chief Firearms Officer for Ontario (CFO). Their instructor designation number is usually listed in the course description.
We have a Registration and Refund policy that covers these scenarios. You should try to come to the course on time, but if you’re sick you should stay home. Email us as soon as you know you can’t make it, at info@gtagunsafety.com. We are very flexible, and can usually reschedule you without penalty.
If you fail either the written or practical test, we usually have time to re-administer the test on the same day. If we cannot, you will have to re-test within 30 days.
You should bring a pen and some note paper. You will need a pen to complete the written test, we are not always able to supply pens. Note paper will assist you in taking notes during class.
